Epsom Contractors & Professional Radon Mitigation Services in New Hampshire
The radioactive gas called Radon is something that occurs naturally in oil and sometimes leaks into homes through their foundations (especially if they have any cracks or gaps in them). While small amounts of Radon simply dissipate into the atmosphere via the ventilation, larger amounts tend to accumulate in homes. This can damage the lungs and lead to lung cancer or other serious respiratory diseases. Unlike most gasses, however, it is not possible for people to simply detect the presence of Radon, since it lacks any distinctive odor or color. This is why it needs to be mitigated – a precise process that requires the expertise of those experienced in it.
The process of Radon mitigation is a two-step process. The first step of this is the checking of the foundation and sealing any cracks or gaps. The second is the creation of a system to allow any remaining gas to escape the home before it accumulates and settles. The process itself starts with testing the amount of Radon currently present in the home. If it is anything above the EPA’s safety standard, the foundation and walls are checked for potential entry points, and are subsequently fixed. A plan to mitigate the Radon is then created – this may include activities such as strategic sealing and/or caulking, improving ventilation, adjusting the pressure levels, or installing sub-slab or sub-membrane depressurization systems. Home Owner Ideas is dedicated to finding the best radon mitigation contractors throughout the United States, including (but not limited to) states such as Rhode Island, Arizona, Hawaii and Illinois.
